This project is abandoned. There exists a good working port to the Gnome 2 plattform with new nice graphics. But due to the lack of time it's likely that there won't be any further new features nor adaptions nor new releases. :-( Feel free to use the source.
Atomix is a little mind game where you have to build molecules out of single atoms. These are laying around between the walls and obstacles on the playfield. Once you have pushed an atom in one direction it moves until it hits an obstacle or another atom. It needs some thinking how to construct complex molecules with this atom behaviour. The game is inspired by the original Amiga version. It uses the Gnome libraries and is distributed under the terms of the General Public License (GPL).

You must have the Gnome 2.0.x environment installed (at least the libraries: gtk2, libgnome, libgnomecanvas, libxml2). Look at your favourite ftp.gnome.org mirror or use one of the automatic build scripts (eg. garnome). Unfourtunately Ximian Inc. doesn't have Gnome2 binary packages yet.
If you have an older 1.4.x Gnome desktop you can use the 0.4.3 version of Atomix. It is slightly different and not so nice looking than the Gnome2 version, but works and is also fun.

The source is also available from the gnome CVS repository. Set your cvsroot to :pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome and do a checkout of the atomix module.
